At the “2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards, (here onwards ‘MAMA’)”, 2NE1 was the group to receive one of the three daesangs (grand awards), the Song Of The Year award, for “I Am The Best”. The said “Music has no boundaries. We are a group that communicates with the world through our music“.

2NE1 on the 29th, after the grand ending of the 2011 MAMA held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium where the 2011 MAMA was held, there were interviews held in the Marina Bay Convention Centre for the winners. They said “The concert was very interesting and we’re very happy to receive these awards“.

2NE1, who are very popular in their home country and abroad, were asked questions about the secrets to their popularity by foreign reports and they replied with “because of music”. The said “Either in Korean or in English, the language does not matter. In the future, we will continue to be a group that conveys touching emotions just like we are doing now“.

Along with this, they had everyone in anticipation as they said “With our current Japan album promotions, we’re holding a tour overseas (in Japan) next year“.

2011 MAMA had the dream of making the music world become one with “Music Makes One” as their main concept as they had not only Korean artists representing the heated K-POP scene but held a large festival together with Asian artists. Aside from 2NE1, Super Junior won the award for “Album Of The Year” with their fifth album released last August entitled “Mr Simple” and SNSD received the award for “Artist Of The Year”.

Not only Korea but China, Japan, Singapore, America, etc, totalling 20 countries (13 with live recordings, 7 with broadcasts) had 1.9 billion people watching this year’s MAMA awards.
